          About Bordeaux

Bordeaux, capital city of the region and wine cellar to the World,
is in so many respects one of the finest cities in France. Just
one short walk in the Old City will be enough to convince you of
that fact. Its eighteenth century mansions, adorned with wrought-iron
balconies, tell of the prosperity of this capital city of Aquitaine.
Its wealth is founded on one of the most celebrated wines in the
world, Bordeaux. The city bears its name, and the city and the wine
              are largely inseparable.
There is no question of becoming bored in Bordeaux. For shopping,
the rue Notre-Dame will delight those in search of antiques, as
it is full of antique shops. Finally, for everything you need to
know about wine, and of course to sample some, go along to the Maison
du Vin or to Vinorama, or indeed to the organic market in the Place
Saint-Pierre where you can sample wine and oysters in a marquee.
